🔥🔥 Create Dangerously / Albert Camus

- Perhaps the greatness of Art lies in the perpetual tension between beauty and pain, the love of men and the madness of creation, unbearable solitude and the exhausting crowd, rejection and consent.

예술의 위대함은 '아름다움과 고통 사이', '인간에 대한 사랑과 창작의 광기 사이', '견딜 수 없는 고독과 탈진하게 만드는 군중 사이' 그리고 '거절과 동의 사이'의 영원한 긴장 속에서 있을 것이다. 

예술은 두 골짜기 사이에서 발전하는데, 그건 바로 '천박함'과 '선동'이다.

- 폴란드 출신 기자였던 리샤르드 카푸친스키의 저작. 전후 빈민의 삶에 관해 그가 그린 4가지 이야기다.

"그 주부가 불행하다치자, 그 사람은 남자들이 행복하다고 생각할까? 여자라서 다행이라는 걸 모를까?"

- 미국 주부들에게 퍼져있는 낯선 문제를 보여내고, '행복한 현모양처' 신화를 키워온 광고의 악영향을 진단한다는데.

- 미국 주부들의 이야기를 하고 있지만, 크게 보면 "한 사람의 권리를 대가로 그 개인을 억눌러서 다른 한 사람을 만족시키는 것이 맞냐"라는 질문을 던지고 있다. 페미니즘은 선택할 자유를 위한 투쟁의 한 방도일 뿐이고, '가정이 있는 인류'가 겪는 문제는 아직 '명명'되지 않았다는 것이다.

유명해지는 건 그렇게 중요한 문제가 아니다. 내가 유명하지 않으면, 나는 앤디워홀이라는 이유로 사진 세례를 못 받았을 테니.

"The wrong people always look right to me. And when you've got a lot of people and they all look good, it's hard to make distinctions, the easiest thing is to pick the really bad person"

꼬인 사람들은 나를 꼭 똑바로 쳐다본다. 당신이 발이 넓고 다들 준수하다면, 특이점을 만들어내기가 어렵다. 가장 쉬운 건 진짜 나쁜 사람을 뽑는 거다.

진짜 좀 심하다 싶을 정도의 비평을 누군가 한다면, 난 항상 그냥 흘려보낸다. '진실이 아니다'라고 해명할 사람은 당신 뿐이기 때문이다.

"Some company recently was interested in buying my 'aura'. They didn't want my product. They kept saying 'we want your aura'. I never figured out what they wanted. But they were willing to pay a lot for it"

내 '아우라'를 사려는 데 어떤 회사가 최근 관심이 있었다. 그 쪽은 내 제품을 원한 게 아니었다. '아우라 원한다'고 계속 말했다. 나는 뭘 원하는 지 알 수 가 없었는데, 그 쪽은 큰 돈을 낼 의향이 있었다.

항상 아름답게 보이는 3가지가 있다. 내 오래된 좋은 신발, 내 침실, 귀국하는 길 미국에서 수속하기.

평범한 좋은 인상이 내가 제일 좋아하는 모습이다. 별로인 사람처럼 보이고 싶지 않을 때면, 평범하게 보이길 원하곤 했다. 그게 차선이곤 했다.

"If a person isn't generally considered beautiful, they can still be a success if they have a few jokes in their pockets. And a lot of pockets"

사람들이 아름답다고 생각하지 않는 사람이라도, 성공할 수도 있다. 농담 몇 개를 주머니 속에 넣어다니든, 그 주머니가 많든지하면.

아름다움은 섹스와 상관이 없다. 아름다움은 아름다움과, 섹스는 섹스와 관련이 있을 뿐이다.

눈 감고 사랑에 빠져야 한다. 눈을 감아라. 보지 말라.

사랑에 대한 생각은 사람마다 다르다. 라고 내가 아는 어떤 여자 애가 말하더라. 입에 안 해줬을 때, 내가 사랑받았다는 걸 알았다.

오랜 언약을 믿는다. 길수록 더 낫다.
